When nature meets relax
Podere Pornanino
On the rolling hills of the Black Rooster area, in the very heart of Chianti, between Radda, Castellina and Vagliagli sits Pornanino, a lovingly restored biological olive oil estate surrounded by 36 hectares of olive groves and wooded hills. The rivers Arbia and Serchio mark the boundaries.
The owner’s Franco and Lia
were part of a group of newly formed farmers (and friends) who came to Chianti from major European and Italian cities in search of a slower-paced lifestyle where simple values of life are emphasised in every day living. Their daughter Francesca and son-in-law Matteo have now taken on the role of cultivators and producers of the top-quality biological extra virgin olive oil with great passion.
Matteo now manages the farm and the olive oil production, together with Francesca who attends to their guests.
A presentation and tasting of the biological extra virgin olive oil given by Matteo are also part of the experience of being at Pornanino!
The main farmhouse
Il Gelso and two stone built barns, Il Capannino and Il Leccino cottages, have been restored and renovated to excellent standards and beautifully appointed with the same warm style and antique furniture
Pornanino is accessed by 5 km of very well kept unpaved road (strada bianca). The medieval town of Castellina in Chianti with an excellent choice of restaurants, wine shops, coffee bars, COOP supermarket, grocery shops, post-office, banks and a variety of other shops is at 6 km distance, Florence at 32 km and Siena at 18 km.
The hill top towns of San Gimignano, Volterra, and Monteriggioni, as well as famed Arezzo, Cortona and many other attractive towns are within an easy drive. The property is 9 km from Radda in Chianti, another lovely hill-top medieval town with cobbled streets and also a good choice of restaurants and stores.
Privacy and relax
Each accommodation has its own private terrace with tables and chairs for eating outside and garden with deckchairs. A beautifully kept garden surrounds the houses.
We wish to offer our guests an unforgettable and relaxing holiday at Pornanino.
For this reason we will be able to accommodate up to 12 people if they are part of the same group. If the houses are rented by separate groups we will only accommodate up to 8 people at the same time.
The infinity swimming pool
Close by, there is the shared swimming pool (6 x 12 m) with spacious solarium terrace furnished with deckchairs and umbrellas.
The swimming pool is open from mid May (depending on the weather) to the end of September.
